October 22, 2016 Friends of Jefferson Barracks hosted the 2016 Volunteer Breakfast to say Thank You for all you do for the FJB! A great time was had by all and we can't forget to thank Kenrick's for catering the scrambled eggs, potatoes, biscuits & gravy, sausage patties and orange juice!

Old Ordinance Room Museum
We had a good showing of young gardeners for this event. The museum was open and Danny Gonzalez gave guided tours of the exhibit. We provided refreshments for the event that was enjoyed by our gardeners. The collage below highlights the event.

The Pavilion at Lemay
Doors opened at 5pm. Refreshments and hot food were available. Music was performed by Michael Lacy and his New Orleans Swing Band as everyone danced the night away!
World War II Weekend

Jefferson Barracks County Park
We learned about the uniforms, weapons, and equipment used by the troops of World War II. The camp was open for tours on Friday from 1-3 pm and battle reenactments took place on Saturday and Sunday.

All nominations were approved by a unanimous voice vote at this meeting!
Also, Pat Galanos retired as the FJB President in order to dedicate more time to the FJB Gift Shop. Above, newly appointed FJB President, John Chapman thanked Pat Galanos for her faithful service while serving as FJB President from January 2012 - April 2015.
Jefferson Barracks Tuesday Master Gardeners
Each Tuesday a group of volunteer gardeners meet to work on the gardens at the park. Things are starting to bloom at the park. The collage below highlights their work and the changing colors at the park.
Egg Hunt 2015
The 2015 Egg Hunt was held at Jefferson Barracks on March 27th & 28th. The event was big success as both nights were sold out! Below is a collage of pictures that highlights the event.

Adult Egg Hunt - Egg Preparation Session
An egg preparation session was held at the Visitors Center. Members of the Friends and students from local high schools volunteered to number the eggs. All 17,000 eggs were numbered and stored away. Below are some pictures of everyone hard at work.
Re-Enactor & Military Collectors Show

This event was held at the Affton Community Center due to the construction of the Pavillion at Lemay in Jefferson Barracks Park. Approximately 75 vendors purchased tables and nearly 200 people attended and shopped or browsed. This was the 25th year this event was held. Many thanks to Mike and Cindy Pierce for their hard work in organizing this event. Below are some pictures of the vendors and the collectibles on display at the event.
The Friends of Jefferson Barracks each year sponsors events or activities at Jefferson Barracks County Park. In 2014 two events included The Adult Easter Egg Hunt and the World War II weekend Canteen Dance. These two events also were fundraisers that we used to help fund our support for Jefferson Barracks County Park.
Adult Easter Egg Hunt 2014
The Adult Egg Hunt in Jefferson Barracks Park is the original adult egg that has been held annually for nearly 20 years in the St. Louis Area. Last years event was held on April 11 and 12, 2014. The hunts for both evenings were sold out with nearly 800 adults each night hunting for eggs in the park. The pictures below highlight the event and members of the Friends of Jefferson Barracks.

World War II Weekend Canteen Dance
In 2014 the Canteen Dance was held on April 26, 2014. It was held in the auditorium in building 24 on the Jefferson Barracks National Guard Base. Over 200 tickets were sold with music provided by MIchael Lacey and his New Orleans Swing Band. Dinner and beverage service was provided by Some Other Place. During the evening we honored all veterans but especially World War II veterans. The pictures below highlight the events of the evening.
